[News] The resurrection of the Barbie dolls- Co-Ed's turning point in the follow-up MV
Mixed-gender group 'Co-Ed' has changed. In their debut song 'Too late', they showed off an intense futuristic warrior image. However, in their follow-up song 'Bbiri Bbom Bbaeri Bbom', they are 180 degrees different. They are set to give a different kind of entertainment by turning into cute Barbies.
Co-Ed filmed their follow-up song's music video on the afternoon of the 11th in a set in Kyungkido Kwangju. The new song 'Bbiri Bbom Bbaeri Bbom' that is being newly showcased is a song that has the content of putting on a spell to achieve one's love. It is a dance song that has a lasting light, exciting tempo & rhythm.
As the concept has changed, there are many things that have transformed as well. Firstly, instead of an intense beat, the music livened up its rhythm with a carefree tempo. The style turned from a warrior to a doll, adding more merriment. The dance raised its appeal towards the public by using cute, free movements instead of a strict group dance.
We looked at the turning points of the follow-up song shown in 'Co-Ed's music video filming set.
Music- "Light tempo instead of intense beat"
'Co-Ed' debuted with 'Too Late'. This was an electronic song with a memorable strong beat, with a strong feel of toughness and roughness. However, in the follow-up song 'Bbiri Bbom Bbaeri Bbom' is different. As the lyrics show the loving emotions felt by teens, the music is also bright and merry.
'Bbiri Bbom Bbaeri Bbom', revealed at the filming set, is a dance song with a bright tempo. 'Bbiri Bbom Bbaeri Bbom' is strongly addicting because certain lyrics and melodies are repeated. The up-ped tempo, beat, and sound, are lighter than the previous song, and is easier to listen to, and follow along to.
Smile Soomi, the leader, explained, "'Too Late' was an intense, strong song. However, 'Bbiri Bbom Bbaeri Bbom' is a cute song with a memorable, bright beat and repeating rhythm. So I think it'll produce a lovely atmosphere that fits with the age range of 'Co-Ed'".
Style - "From futuristic warrior to Barbie doll"
The style has also changed a lot. During 'Too Late', members showcased a warrior image from the future. The outfits were made from a tough material not unlike leather, and the accessaries were also intense like masks with studs. Dark colors were also used in the hair and makeup. This time, however, the atmosphere is doll-bright.
The outfits are colorful. Pink and blue, green, colors of variety were used. Female members were given puffy mini skirts and ribbons as their points. The makeup that accentuated their eyelashes and the natural hair color was like the style of the barbies.
'Co-Ed's stylist said, "The song is cute and merry. So I mixed in a colorful feel. There are two kinds of concept in total, and you can count the denim look like in the 1990s, and the pattern match in which the denim look and the checkered look are used. The accessaries like ribbons that remind of gift wrappings are also memorable".
